MitraClip

Mitral mandallama (MitraClip/TEER) yöntemi, açık kalp ameliyatına gerek kalmadan mitral kapaktaki kaçağın azaltılması amacıyla uygulanan ileri bir girişimsel tedavi…

What is MitraClip?

MitraClip is a minimally invasive treatment method applied via catheter without the need for open heart surgery in patients with mitral valve regurgitation. This procedure is an ideal option especially for patients with high surgical risk or those who are not suitable for open surgery.

How Does It Work?

The MitraClip procedure is performed through a catheter from the groin area (femoral vein). The catheter is passed from the right side of the heart to the left side and reduces leakage by bringing the two leaflets of the mitral valve closer together. The procedure is performed under general anesthesia, accompanied by echocardiography.

Who Is It Suitable For?

  • Patients with moderate-severe or severe mitral valve regurgitation
  • Patients with high risk for open heart surgery
  • Elderly patients or patients with comorbidities
  • Patients with suitable mitral valve anatomy

Advantages

  • No heart surgery required
  • Low complication rate
  • Fast recovery process
  • Short hospital stay
  • Significant improvement in quality of life

After the Procedure

After the MitraClip procedure, patients are usually discharged within 1-2 days. Regular follow-up after the procedure is important. Most patients observe significant improvement in complaints such as shortness of breath and fatigue after the procedure.
